We were wondering how come it is called the coronavirus. Here’s The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (a.k.a. The AJC) with the explanation: ““Corona” means crown in Spanish, and coronavirus is a category of viruses so named because of its appearance — it’s covered with crown-like spikes, according to the Atlanta-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
The AJC is located pretty near to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), so we figure they’d get the scoop.
By the way, has anyone else noticed that the Tesla stock price last week has closely mirrored the coronavirus death totals of the past few days (“500…600…more than 700…over 800…what the hell, topping 900!”)? Alas, Tesla’s price went back down to the 700s. There’s only one direction for the coronavirus death toll to go. It’ll be over 1,000 by the end of Monday, sadly.
